We Are Reflective

We Are Reflective!
The year is wrapping up, and we are reflecting for this month's activity. Students were
given a dice and asked to roll. The number that was rolled determined the question they would answer to help in reflection about the year. It as a great time of sharing. Students answered the following questions.
  • What are you most proud of this year?
  • What would you like to improve on from this year?
  • What was your favorite part of this year?

We Have Fun!

Day at the Yangjae Park!

Student Council prepared a fun filled day at the park for the school. The members created a schedule for games and even a scavenger hunt around the park. It was exciting to watch students learn how to lead a game and grow in leadership skills. All students had an excellent time!

Grade 5-8 had a visit from some Dutch high school students.
We were able to learn about Dutch culture. It was wonderful.

We Are Safe

#letsdothis

RIS Student Council has been brainstorming ways to make our school safer and a more positive learning environment. One Student Council Member created a poster that we have put around our school to remind students of the hallway and stairwell rules. This poster helps students to use a quiet voice, walk slowly and carefully, and walk in a straight line. On Wednesday, two students will hold a short assembly to teach lower elementary how to behave in the hallway and stairwell.

Here is a video made for the Hallway and Stairwell Assembly.

The following are photos from the assembly.

We Are Open-Minded

#letsdothis

We are open-minded here at RIS! A Student Council Member decided to create an activity for students to grow in open-mindedness.
Students from all grades gathered during break times and were asked a series about different situations. The students were given a scenario. The students were given two ways to respond to the situation. One response express open-mindedness and the other did not. Student then went to a side of the room that they through was correct. It was a very effective and growing activity.
Being kind and open-minded is a good idea!

Students celebrate being open-minded.
Students listen to the situation.

Students are making a decision about which is the best response.
Students think about what they would do.

We Are Knowledgable

#letsdothis

We are doing exciting events here at Rainbow International School in Seoul. This December, we focused on being knowledgable. It was fun to observe one of our student council members decide on an activity for the whole school. Being a big fan of puns, I was very in favor of this game. The name of the game was Knowledge-Ball

Students came into a classroom during break. A topic they are currently studying was selected for the focus. They then formed a circle. Once a student said a fact about what he or she was learning, they tossed a foam dice to a new person in the circle.

Students are deciding which fact to share with their classmates.
We are very knowledgable!
